Australia lead actor Hugh Jackman has been named among 25 entertainers as recipients of the 2009 Walk of Fame stars announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on June 18.
The other Walk of Fame recipients were film stars Tinkerbell, Tim Burton, Leslie Caron, Cameron Diaz, Ironman Robert Downey, Jr., Charles Durning, Ralph Fiennes, Sir Ben Kingsley and William H. Macy; television names Mark Burnett, Felicity Huffman, Chuck Lorre, William Petersen, Kyra Sedgwick, and John Stamos; musicians Kenny “Baby Face” Edmonds, Dave Koz, The Miracles, Doug Morris, RUSH, Shakira and The Village People; and radio personalities Bill Handel and Harry Shearer.
In a media release, Chairman of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee Earl Lestz said: "There was a significant increase of applications received this year and so many deserving celebrities. Our committee worked diligently to select those stars which would appeal to the masses.”
The Chamber of Commerce also said that no specific dates were announced yet as to when these entertainers would receive their stars.
Hugh Jackman will be among fellow Australians Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett who received her star last year, and the legendary Errol Flynn.
