Eleven short wins one more

[Wed 08/10/2008 09:14:01]

[press release from Lightshaft Entertainment]

Lawrence Lim, of Lightshaft Entertainment, has won a prestigious Honorable Mention Award from The Accolade Competition.

The award was given for Lawrence Lim’s exciting Short Film, ELEVEN, which challenged the continuous take shot for the purpose of narrative effect as opposed to a personal artistic choice. ELEVEN features exceptional production values having been filmed at Fox Studios Australia.

The short utilises impressive visual and special effects to assist in the storytelling with sound elements that pays homage to Michael Mann’s, HEAT. It also stars Robert Mammone, Socratis Otto & Diarmid Heidenreich.

“Winning an award such as this truly justifies one’s pursuits in filmmaking as a viable profession. Eleven was a passion project that had no chance at funding grants, so it was my responsibility to find the money. Thanks to the Australian Stock Exchange, I was able to increase the size of the budget seven fold and begin the arduous journey of forging, Eleven. The intention of the film was to challenge the age old continuous take shot for narrative effect, and I strongly believe we have achieved that and more. An enormous amount of credit must go to my loyal hardworking cast and crew. I couldn’t have done it without them.” Lawrence Lim (Writer/Producer/Director, ELEVEN)

The Accolade recognises film, television and videography professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change. Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry. Information about the Accolade and a list of recent winners can be found at www.theaccolade.net

In winning an Accolade, Lawrence Lim of Lightshaft Entertainment joins the ranks of other high‐profile winners of this internationally respected award. Thomas Baker, Ph.D., who chairs The Accolade, had this to say about the latest winners,

“The Accolade is not an easy award to win. Entries are received from around the world. The Accolade helps set the standard for craft and creativity. The judges were pleased with the exceptionally high quality of entries. The goal of The Accolade is to help winners achieve the recognition they deserve.”
