In a wrap up of its 10th anniversary celebrations on October 18, Cinéma des Antipodes presented awards for the six films in competition, with Australian director Nadia Tass (Malcolm, The Big Steal) heading its competition jury.
The Antipodes grand jury award was awarded to Australian actor Mark Lee for his directorial debut feature, The Bet. New Zealander Jennifer Ludlum (Apron Strings) and Australian Kodi Smit-McPhee (Romulus, My Father) were awarded the best actress and actor awards respectively. New Zealander Katie Wolfe was awarded the Woodside Valley Foundation Award for her short film, This is Her. While the festival's audience favourite was given to Elissa Down’s The Black Balloon.
After the award celebrations, the audience were then treated to a special exclusive screening of the trailer of Baz Luhrmann’s Australia, followed by the screening of Second Hand Wedding, a film by New Zealand director Paul Murphy.
Cinéma des Antipodes is a film festival that celebrates Australian and New Zealand films, held annually in the south of France in a little town called St Tropez, the home of French film icon Brigitte Bardot.
