AIMIA announces award nominees

[Fri 23/01/2009 07:32:46]

[Press release by Spectrum Communications]

The Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) has announced the finalists of their 15th annual awards for excellence in digital content and services.

102 entries have been selected as finalists across 21 categories ranging from retail to government, sport to content for children.

This year AIMIA have seen a 15 per cent increase in submissions to its annual awards. This comes on the back of the AIMIA Digital Services Index, which predicts 25 % of customer revenue will be generated through digital services in 2009.

Paul McCarthy, AIMIA Awards Judging Chair, said, “This year’s awards have drawn a record number of submissions, so the bar was set very high by our 102 Australian and New Zealand finalist works.

“The finalists showcase ground-breaking new work in online advertising, education, mobile and entertainment, plus a spectrum of other innovative digital media projects from over 50 leading organisations.

“This year there has been some very strong work in the news, media or reference award, where the finalists include leading websites like smh.com.au, news.com.au and World News Australia (SBS). Plus, the non-profit and government finalists as well as student category have also yielded some amazing work.

“Another pleasing trend was some of the remarkable projects that were completed in Australia and New Zealand on behalf of global organisations such as the United Nations and The WSPA(World Society for the Protection of Animals)/BodyShop initiative.
