Feature film: Two Fists, One Heart
[Wed 11/03/2009 04:06:29]
Former boxing champ Rai Fazio's father-son drama, inspired by a movie classic, endured its own troubled path to eventually make it to the big screen as Brendan Swift discovers.
Boxing classic Rocky brought home three Oscars and made writer and star Sylvester Stallone a household name more than thirty years ago.
While the film spawned five largely unnecessary sequels and countless parodies it also inspired a Perth school boy, Rai Fazio, to dream of boxing glory and a big-time career in Hollywood.
Fast forward to today and Fazio’s semi-autobiographical movie Two Fists, One Heart is set to hit the big screen, bringing back the gritty realism that underpinned the success of Rocky.
The tale of redemption sees champion boxer Anthony Argo (Daniel Amalm) repair his troubled relationship with father Joe, (Ennio Fantastichini) by taking on fellow boxer and nemesis Nico Manchini (Fazio) in a final showdown.
