Samson catches up to Mary and Max

[Thu 04/06/2009 06:03:01]

By Simon de Bruyn

Samson and Delilah has ended its fourth week in cinemas with a very robust $1.33 million total, putting it alongside Mary and Max which has grossed the same after eight weeks.

My Year Without Sex opened with just under $300,000 across 25 screens for its first week, with the distributors expecting the film to generate strong word of mouth similar to the previous film by its director Sarah Watt, Look Both Ways.

Two Fists One Heart also corrected up to $295,500 ahead of a regional release its producer David Elfick is planning with BVI. The film recently screened at Dungog Film Festival to acclaim.

Shadows of the Past is continuing to play regional cinemas and will open at the Nelson Bay cinema complex this weekend, to coincide with the Blue Water Country Music Festival.
