Get Your Shorts On!

The annual special short film event Get Your Shorts On! will again showcase the inspired work of Western Australian filmmakers on Thursday July 9 during the Revelation Perth International Film Festival.

WHEN:  09/07/2009 to 09/07/2009

WHERE:  Astor Cinema, 659 Beaufort St, Mt Lawley, WA

STATE:  WA

COUNTRY:  AUS

ScreenWest Chief Executive Ian Booth said that the event is a unique opportunity for
filmmakers and the community to view the latest talent in Western Australian short
filmmaking.

“Audiences will be treated to edgy comedies as well standout dramas and documentaries,” Mr Booth said.

“Get Your Shorts On! is always an entertaining night with the added opportunity to hear first hand from the filmmakers as they provide an insight into the creative filmmaking process.”

The 2009 program demonstrates that local filmmakers can aptly tackle challenging themes and explore notions of humanity, community and family bonds. From a live-action and animated suburban Australian fairy tale; monsters hunting a young family; an Indigenous tale of a supernatural spirit; and two very personal documentaries - the 2009 Get Your Shorts On! program has something for everyone.

"Revelation has a long association with ScreenWest, and we are pleased to support this partnership by showcasing Western Australian content to local audiences,” Revelation Program Director Jack Sargaent said.

"Get Your Shorts On! belongs to the filmmakers whose work is screened. It's a chance for their work to shine to their community and for the community to celebrate local creativity. It's also about filmmakers meeting each other, establishing relationships, watching each other's work and, most importantly, celebrating cinema."

Get Your Shorts On! kicks off at 7pm on Thursday July 9 at the Astor Cinema. Get your ticket early because the event is expected to be a sell out success. Tickets are $10 / $8 Conc and can be purchased at the Revelation Box Office at the Astor or online at  www.revelationfilmfest.org

Get Your Shorts On! films have received funding support from ScreenWest, Lotterywest and/or the Film & Television Institute (FTI).
