The short film is a diverse art form, inviting in its brevity, perfect for the non-stop pace of today. It can create instant characters, employ well-timed twists, say much with so little, explore themes and styles which it’s bigger brother – the feature – simply cannot sustain. A good short film will captivate and entertain, provoke and enlighten, challenge and inspire. And nobody makes good short films quite like Melbourne.
Yes, the Made In Melbourne Film Festival is unapologetically proud. Melbourne has a thriving film community and festival culture and MIM is here to celebrate our best short films and provide emerging and established local filmmakers a personal platform to showcase their work in front of their peers.
MIM will also award the best films of the night because what is life without competition? However, there is only one category – Best Film – and it will be judged by the smartest and most important film critics … the audience. The top three films will win fantastic prizes and accolades courtesy of our wonderful sponsors. Sounds good? Of course it does.
