Indigenous musical Bran Nue Dae has cracked the $7 million mark at the box office over the weekend.
The film added a further $ 159,502 to its tally across 117 screens in its seventh week. It is currently the 32nd biggest local film of all time behind The Man From Snowy River II and Rabbit-Proof Fence.
Vampire film Daybreakers added a further $91,304 across 75 screens. It has now amassed almost $2.37 million since its release four weeks ago, according to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia.
Independent Australian comedy Girl Clock!, distributed by Peter Castaldi’s company The Pack, took $4,061 across two screens in its opening weekend.
There are no major Australian releases due to be released in cinemas until war epic Beneath Hill 60 on April 15, although New Zealand romantic comedy Separation City is released this Thursday by Hoyts.
