Beresford to direct new US film

By Brendan Swift
Bruce Beresford is set to direct comedy-drama Peace Love and Misunderstanding in the US next month.
Beresford told INSIDEFILM that casting is currently being finalised ahead of the film’s six-week shoot.
“It’s modern and it’s largely set on this rural farm,” he said. “It’s a sort of family [comedy-drama] with three generations of women.”
The project replaces the South African feel-good drama Zebras, which was originally set to be shot earlier this year, but has been delayed due to funding issues. Zebras producer James McElroy was unavailable for comment.
Peace Love and Misunderstanding will be shot by cinematographer André Fleuren, who previously filmed Beresford’s 2002 drama Evelyn.
Fleuren has also worked second unit on several Beresford films, including last year’s hit Mao’s Last Dancer.
Mao’s is set to be released in the US in August by Samuel Goldwyn Films after grossing more than $15.4 million at the Australian box office last year.
