SAFC aims to double local production

The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) aims to double the number of feature films produced in the state by 2014, according to a new strategic plan released this week.
The corporation also aims to increase the number of SA films produced per year as well as the number of locally credited producers and writers.
"South Australia is the home of independent filmmaking and the South Australian Film Corporation is focused on ensuring that we maintain this reputation primarily for the benefit of our local filmmakers and also to production and post-production companies, tourism market and screen culture," the report said.
It comes as the SAFC continues plans to relocate to new state-of-the-art studio facilities in the heart of Glenside, which will replace its current facilities at Hendon. The SAFC aims to utilise its new facilities to enhance the State’s reputation as a hub for independent film.
The SAFC have been responsible for a wide range of high profile films both shot and produced within South Australia, from Rachel Ward’s drama Beautiful Kate, which was shot on location in the Flinders Ranges, to December Boys starring Daniel Radcliffe.
