AHL raises $79K for children with cancer

[Fri 03/09/2010 03:37:28]

Press release from Greater Union/AHL

90 children living with cancer will now head to one of Camp Quality’s recreational camps thanks to Event, Greater Union and Birch Carroll & Coyle Cinemas raising over $79,000 through exclusive charity preview screenings nationally of Universal Pictures 3D animated comedy adventure, Despicable Me, on Sunday August 29.

The screenings were held as part of a national partnership between Camp Quality and Amalgamated Holdings Limited (AHL) – Australia's leading entertainment, hospitality and leisure company.

Camp Quality CEO Simon Rountree is delighted with the results of the screenings.

“We are truly grateful to AHL for your amazing support as we deliver optimism and happiness to children and families affected by cancer. The success of this partnership is evident in the smiles, laughter and resilient behaviours we see in our children who absolutely believe that life is worth living. So THANK YOU”, he says.

These charity screenings are part of a Corporate Charity Program instigated by AHL. The Corporate Charity Program encompasses this annual screening, various fundraising events throughout all AHL businesses as well as the AHL Workplace Giving Program where employees donations are matched by AHL dollar-for-dollar.

Despicable Me will be in cinemas 9 September.
