Oscar nominees working on new short film

Luke Doolan and Drew Bailey are at it again.
Less than a year after picking up an Academy Award nomination for their short film Miracle Fish, the two are collaborating on a new project.
“It doesn’t feel like we’ve stopped working together really,” Bailey told INSIDEFILM.
The new film, currently being shot in Sydney, is part of Screen Australia’s Springboard Initiative.
The government-funded program encourages filmmakers to develop a short film that draws inspiration from a completed feature screenplay.
Whereas Miracle Fish was set in a primary school, Cryo takes place on a spaceship. It is the story of a group of people on their way to colonize a new planet. When their ship is hit by a meteorite, a fight for survival ensues.

After the success of their last venture, Bailey admits there is a lot riding on the project.
“There is a little bit of pressure,” he says. “People expect so much of us now.”
If the film does well, the pair hope their feature film Cargo – based on Cryo – will get the greenlight.
Bailey describes it as a “sci-fi extravaganza.”
“In the end, it’s not what we’ve done in the past that’s important, but what we do next.”
