Trailer launched for Aussie viral film
[Tue 07/12/2010 03:57:49]
The trailer for Australian horror movie The Tunnel was launched today.
The teaser was previewed at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter in a Q&A run by Popcorn Taxi before being made available online.
The film follows a television news crew’s trip into the abandoned tunnels beneath St James Train Station in Sydney, piecing together footage of their findings and interviews with the survivors.
Shot on location over ten days, The Tunnel is being funded entirely by online donations.
Dubbed the 135K project, the Zapruder’s Other Films production is relying on members of the public buying frames of the movie.
One frame costs a dollar and a second of film adds up to $25.
To date, more than 22,000 frames have been purchased by fans across the globe.
The film is slated to be released for free on torrent in the first quarter of 2011.
“Pirating is a losing battle,” said producer, Enzo Tedeschi at the launch today. “We figured, let’s try to find a way to harness that audience and give them what they’re looking for.”
