The Hurt Locker tops Quickflix movie rentals in 2010

The Hurt Locker was Australia’s most popular home movie title last year, according to an analysis of Quickflix’s record 2.2 million online DVD rentals in 2010.
The Oscar-winning film about the Iraq war closely followed by Sherlock Holmes and The Time Traveller’s Wife.
The most popular Australian title, indigenous musical Bran Nue Dae, posted just over half as many requests as The Hurt Locker, and was followed by vampire flick Daybreakers and war film Beneath Hill 60.
Among television titles, the Ryan Kwanten vampire series True Blood took out the top two positions followed by musical Glee.
The survey also found that drama was a more popular genre than comedy (25.6 per cent of requests compared to 17.8 per cent) while James Cameron's Avatar was the most popular film in the Blu-ray format (and the fourth most request movie title of the year).
More than two-thirds of customers requested the Blu-ray format in 2010 compared with the prior year, according to the results.
Quickflix stocks over 43,000 movies, TV series, documentary and sporting titles across 400 genres. It rented 2.2 million titles to customers last year compared to 1.65 million in 2009.
