Gena Rowlands to star in Last Dance

By Amanda Diaz
Screen veteran Gena Rowlands is set to star in Melbourne-based film Last Dance.
Rowlands (The Notebook, Paris, je t’aime) will play Ulah Lippmann, a Holocaust survivor. When a bombing devastates her Melbourne neighbourhood, Ulah is held hostage by Sadiq Mohammed - an injured Palestinian terrorist on the run from the law.
The film is currently in pre-production and will mark the directorial debut of AFI award-winning editor, David Pulbrook.
Last Dance will be produced by SPAA president Antony I. Ginnane.
Ginnane describes the story as a low-budget passion project for himself, Pulbrook and screenwriter Terence Hammond.
Government funding for the F.G Film production was announced last September by Film Victoria.
Distribution in Australia and New Zealand will be handled by Becker Film Group.
Correction: The MIFF Premiere Fund is not currently involved in the project.
I am thrilled to hear about Gena doing a new film. Just last night I decided to watch some Cassavetes films this weekend.
I am ever grateful to my acting teacher Phil Gushee in NYC for introducing me to this caliber of acting so many years ago. Ms. Rowlands is TRUTH in Motion and her performance in Woman Under the Influence is riviting.
I Love you Gena. You humble me with the persision and freedom that you bring to every moment.
Thank you and I wish you all the best in this latest endeavor. Can't wait!
Merde!
