Exclusive: Screenwriter John Collee set to direct his first feature film

By Sam Dallas
Sydney screenwriter John Collee is set to step into the director’s chair for the first time.
Collee, who penned the screenplay for penguin animated flick Happy Feet and epic adventure Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, will direct his first feature film, which he wrote last year: Black Honeymoon.
The $10 million action-thriller, currently in development, is scheduled to be filmed in Paris, France and Congo, Central Africa.
The film follows a newlywed couple, who are pulled from Paris and then thrust deep into Congo where they are both in danger...especially from each other's darkest secrets.
It will be produced by Stephen Van Mil and Martin Brown through Impian Films and Martin Brown Films.
Scottish-born Collee, a former doctor, is the co-founder of Hopscotch Features and is currently writing another Impian Films project, which is also currently in development: The Drowner.
