Kodak retrenches three staff amid downturn in production

Film and camera manufacturer Kodak has retrenched three local staff as it struggles to cope with an industry-wide downturn in production.
Kodak strategic account manager David Hill, customer service manager Ivy Ching, and Les Harb, will leave the business by the end of this month.
Kodak account manager (New South Wales and South Australia), Lawrence Horsburgh, remain with the business and continue to service the Sydney market.
Kodak Entertainment Imaging's general manager, Darren Swenson, said: "It's a matter of trying to realign our structure which allows us to have a sustainable customer base." He said customers would not be affected by the restructure and would receive the same level of service.
One person close to the decision said the Sydney market remained difficult. “We’ve had no features here for quite some time. TVCs in the last couple of months seems to have just fallen off a cliff.”
The Australian dollar has been trading above parity with the US dollar for several months, ruling out Hollywood ‘runaway’ productions filming locally.
The three major Australian features expected to film in coming months: The Great Gatsby, Paradise Lost and Fury Road are all expected to be shot digitally in 3D.
