Australian Lebanese Film Festival

The Australian Lebanese Film Festival Association is calling on film submissions from directors and film distributors

ENTRY DEADLINE:  31/05/2012

WHEN:  22/08/2012 to 26/08/2012

WHERE:  TBA

STATE:  NSW

COUNTRY:  AUS

The Australian Lebanese Film Festival (ALFF) Association is calling on film submissions from directors and film distributors to be screened at the ALFF, set to take place from 22 - 26 August 2012. Currently in the preliminary stages of planning the festival, the event is likely to feature a minimum of seven film screenings at various locations, predominantly in the Western Sydney region.

Selected according the to the criteria below, films should be directed by a Lebanese Director, or Director of Lebanese ethnicity; or filmed (in full, or partially) in Lebanon; or focus on aspects of Lebanese culture; or be produced by Lebanese living outside of Lebanon. Secondary and Tertiary students will also be invited to participate in the short film competition and will be in the running to win a $2500.00 grant to their school. A commitment to this funding has already been made and will soon be announced publicly.

Films can be of any genre or type (i.e. feature, documentary, short, black and white etc). Films should preferably meet the following criteria (as much as practicable):
1. Be produced in 2010 or later;
2. Have not yet been screened in Australia, allowing for an ‘Australian Premier’;
3. Be available in DVD format;
4. Include relevant promotional material, synopsis etc.

Invitation for film submission is valid up until 31 May 2012. Submitted films will be reviewed by at least two members of the ALFF committee to ensure they are appropriate for screening and criteria is met.

If any submitted film is reviewed and approved for inclusion into the 2012 ALFF program, the Director will receive an application form and agreement to provide the ALFF with the rights to screen the film during the Festival.

Directors should also alert the ALFF committee if the film has been distributed to any other Festival for screening in Australia. It is preferable that the film be provided to the ALFF only. The ALFF can also assist with the distribution of the film in Australia following the festival.

Directors and actors are also invited to attend the festival and special events can be arranged for Q and A sessions and the like.

An opening night will also be hosted with a gala dinner including politicians and prominent film industry members. A film premier screening will also be showcased along with awards presented to assisting directors, acknowledgement of other side events, as well as Lebanese food and entertainment.

For more information on how to submit your film, please email the ALFF Committee at bankstowncommunityinfo@cjlpropertygroup.com.au
