Bad Karma to premiere at AFM

Queensland-shot thriller Bad Karma, starring Ray Liotta, will have its world premiere at the American Film Market (AFM) next month.
The film follows career criminal Jack Molloy as he attempts to clean up his life until Yale, fresh out of prison and bent on vengeance, frames him for a brutal robbery/homicide. The film, produced by the Bradley brothers, also stars Dominic Purcell and Rhona Mitra.
It is one of the 395 films in total which will screen at this year's AFM, including 65 world premieres and 295 market premieres, from November 2-9 in Santa Monica. The AFM is a traditionally strong market for genre films and is attended by thousands of buyers and industry professionals.
Local drama Face to Face, which received six Jameson IF Award Sydney nominations this week, will also have its first market showing at AFM.
Two other films with strong Australian connections will also be shown: Australian director Bruce Beresford's Peace, Love and Understanding, and Steve McQueen's Shame, produced by See-Saw Films' Emile Sherman and Iain Canning.
Among the international slate of films having their world premiere are A Gang Story, starring Gérard Lanvin and Tchéky Karyo (Gaumont); Columbus Circle, starring Selma Blair, Amy Smart, Giovanni Ribisi and Kevin Pollak (Lightning Entertainment); Nobel’s Last Will, starring Malin Crépin, Björn Kjellman and Leif Andrée (Zodiak Rights); Snowflake, the White Gorilla, starring Elsa Pataky and Pere Ponce (Filmax International); Special Forces, starring Diane Kruger, Djimon Hounsou and Benoit Magimel (StudioCanal); and The Expatriate, starring Aaron Eckhart and Olga Kurylenko (Essential Entertainment).
