Rick Kalowski to question AACTA Award nominees at Meet the Writers

[Mon 23/01/2012 11:35:46]

Press release from Thought Broker

2012 AACTA Award nominees to face candid questions from Rick Kalowski (himself nominated for At Home With Julia) at Meet The Writers on Sunday, 29 January.

Trouble-maker Rick Kalowski, most recently known for pushing boundaries as co-creator/writer of the controversial series At Home With Julia, is planning some tactless questions for a panel of fellow nominees which will include Judy Morris (Eye of the Storm), Alice Addison (The Hunter), Leon Ford (Griff the Invisible), Jacquelin Perske (Spirited), Kris Wyld (East West 101) and Victoria Wharfe McIntyre (The Telegram Man). Also joining the panel will be US writer Ellen Fontana (Cloudstreet).

Kalowski will be probing the panelists for the down-and-dirty on the cinema and television industry. Questions will include:

• Who do you really think should win your category? But, who will win instead?
• Which turned out better – your script? Or the film / TV project made from it?
• The media are forever blaming our scripts for the state of our TV / Film industry? Fair call? Or just more bashing the writer?
• If you could only have one, what would you prefer - critical acclaim? Or high ratings / big box office for your TV show / film?

An audience Q&A will follow.

Meet the Writers is presented by the Australian Writers Guild (AWG) and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA).
