Sex, Lies and Sequins at Brisbane Queer Film Festival 2012

[Fri 03/02/2012 11:32:28]

Press release from Brisbane Queer Film Festival

French porn stars, Swedish politicians, American rock stars and Israeli pranksters are all on the big screen at Brisbane Queer Film Festival 2012, where multi-award winning international and local films explore queer life around the world. The festival is on at Brisbane Powerhouse from 13 – 22 April 2012.

According to Festival Director Sarah Neal Brisbane Queer Film Festival will offer Brisbane audiences a chance to be entertained, inspired and challenged and see some of the newest award-winning films from around the world.

“This year’s films cover everything from Iran’s death penalty for homosexuals, to the LA Ball scene and the realities of life in the sex industry,” said Neal.

“There are also stories about the difficulties of coming out in personal and professional life and the universal search for love and acceptance.

“In our documentary series audiences can also grab a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of porn star Francois Sagat, Country and Western singer Chely Wright or Hole’s drummer Patty Schemel,” she added.

“In addition to the full-length films we also have two series of international short films, perfect for anyone who enjoys variety. There’s also our epic opening night party, featuring the raucous musical film Leave it on the Floor, and DJs determined to keep you on the dance floor all night.”

Brisbane Queer Film Festival 2012 features queer films from the U.S.A, Israel, France, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Israel, France, Germany, Denmark, Brazil, Norway, Hungary and Argentina.
