Men in Black 3 remains in first place, adds four screens

Men in Black 3 easily retained the top spot at the box office in its second weekend of release, grossing a further $3.6 million for Sony Pictures.The film dropped 28 per cent from last weekend, but gained an additional four screens. It earned a screen average of $6,049 from 596 screens.
Pregnancy ensemble comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting debuted in second place for Roadshow. The star-studded picture -- which features a cast including Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks and Chris Rock -- has received generally poor reviews but grossed a respectable $2,431,104 from 305 screens. (Its screen average of $7,971 was beaten only by winter sports film Warren Miller's Like There's No Tomorrow , which had an impressive screen average of $72,213. Although it is, of course, worth noting that the film only played on one screen.)
The Avengers remained in third place, grossing an additional $1.7 million for Disney, while The Dictator ($1.34 million) and Dark Shadows ($741,016) completed the top five.
John Duigan's film Careless Love earned $8,272 from nine screens. The film, which follows the life of a Sydney University student who works as an escort, has been in cinemas for three weeks, but this is the first time box office figures have been made available through the MPDAA.
Iron Sky has dropped eight screens since last weekend and revenues have fallen 58 per cent. The sci-fi comedy now has a box office total of $284,020.
