Writer Andrea Rogers received the Australian Writers Guild's 2011 Monte
Miller Award - Long Form for this romantic migrant story, where the
death of Rosy's beloved grandfather and the bohemian world they shared
leads Rosy on a journey to uncover the trauma of her family's past.
Secrets are kept hidden by her obsessive mother, and 15-year-old Rosy's
quest soon spirals off course as love, betrayal and her mother attempt
to thwart her journey.
DIVING FOR POLAND will be read on Saturday 30th June by a cast of some
of Australia's finest actors including Jacqueline McKenzie (The 4400,
Romper Stomper) Ivy Latimer (Me and My Monsters, Love My Way), Ben
O'Toole (Reuben Guthrie - Theatre), Sophie Hensser (Home and Away,
Underbelly) and Anna Hruby (Home and Away, All Saints) as narrator. This
exciting cast will be bringing the script to life for the Dungog
audience.
Andrea Rogers' In The Raw reading of her script will be directed by up
and coming director Hannah Hilliard for the Dungog Film Festival. Hannah
has made numerous critically acclaimed short films including Franswa
Sharl, which won the prestigious Crystal Bear Award for Best Short Film
at the Berlin International Film Festival.
