Clip it!: Call for Entries

Fancy yourself as the next Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry or Chris Cunningham? Here's your chance! Clip It! is an exciting, new music video production initiative run by the Media Resource Centre (MRC) in association with Canon Australia and Music SA. Clip It!

ENTRY DEADLINE:  02/07/2012

WHERE:  N/A

STATE:  SA

COUNTRY:  AUS

The MRC is now calling for entries for 2012 Clip It!

This year the MRC will support the production of five music clips by teams of local filmmakers who have paired up with a local band to create a music video for an original song. The winning clips will be launched at a special screening at the Mercury Cinema on November 30th, and the MRC will support winners in
sending their completed clip to music channels including Rage, [V], Max and BPM.

2011 Clip It! winning filmmaker Matt Vesley said “Clip It! is a great initiative to support local musicians and filmmakers. Music videos have had a huge resurgence with the advent of social networking, and they’re now one of the most important tools for a band to get noticed. Having MRC support makes it so much easier to get a video made, and as filmmakers we had a total blast.”

The MRC will grant $500 cash investment towards the production of each clip as well as up to $2,500 worth of in-kind investment to be used on MRC camera equipment and/or post-facilities hire. Each production will also be granted two day’s free hire of a DSLR MK III camera plus L-series lenses, supplied by Canon Australia.

The MRC will team winning entries with a supervising producer as well as an experienced directing, cinematography and/or editing mentor as appropriate.

Media Resource Centre Program Manager Shane McNeil said, “Clip It! has become one of our most popular programs and a brilliant opportunity for local filmmakers to try their hand at creating a music video clip. We were all blown away by the standard of productions last year and expect this year will be no different.”

All applicants must be residents of SA, and the applying filmmakers must be MRC members and over 18. Only original songs will be supported and applications from individual filmmakers or bands are not eligible. Applications close 4pm on Monday July 2nd, 2012.
