Dame Edna to perform at AIMC

Over 800 delegates will be treated to An Evening with Dame Edna, starring Moonee Ponds’ legendary housewife, as the centrepiece of the 67th Australian International Movie Convention Wrap Presentation, taking place at Jupiters Hotel & Casino on Queensland’s Gold Coast on August 23.
Iconic performer, satirist, artist and comedian Barry Humphries – whose internationally famous alter ego Dame Edna Everage is loved the world over - recently embarked on a farewell tour, “Eat Pray Laugh!” as a final bow to Australian audiences.
“To have Dame Edna take time out from her final tour to feature in our Convention Wrap program is very exciting”, said Michael Hawkins, Chair of the AIMC Committee. “It will cap off a week of fantastic presentations and film screenings and we can’t imagine a better way to celebrate.”
The AIMC 2012 Convention Wrap Presentation will take place from 6.30-7.30 pm in the newly refurbished Jupiters Theatre and will also feature two special award presentations:
- The Murray Forrest Award for Film Craft
- The Lifetime Achievement Award
Delegates will move from the Convention Wrap Presentation to the Convention Wrap Party in the Jupiters Ballroom, with a ‘Funhouse’ theme and featuring Rolling Stones tribute band, Exile. Following that, the stayers can enjoy the Official After Party in the DELUXE Delegate's Bar with karaoke and internationally renowned DJ Mark Dynamix.
