Poetry in Film Festival 2012 call for entries

 

The Poetry in Film Festival (PIFF) brings poetry to life through film. Working in collaboration with Palace Cinemas, PIFF aims to raise awareness and appreciation of poetry in popular culture while showcasing the talents of up-and-coming Australian indepe

The PIFF aims to fuse poetry and film together. This year, PIFF held a national competition for writers to create a poem on the theme “The Future Imagined”. The winning poem is “from Freo” by Kevin Gillam. Filmmakers are required to produce a 4-7 minute short film based on their interpretation of this poem. Awards will be given in the following categories: • Best Direction • Best Cinematography • Best Interpretation of the poem • Best Performance • Audience Choice (judged on the PIFF showcase and award night) PIFF is currently accepting entries into the festival through its website. Entries close on Friday, 19th October 2012. The best films will be shown at the Screening and Awards Night on the 18th of November at the Palace Cinema Como, Melbourne as well as at screenings in Sydney and Brisbane. http://www.poetryinfilmfestival.com.au
