Glen Mazzara, Showrunner of FX hit series ‘The Walking Dead’ will front an incredible line up of respected and sought after producers, network executives and writing coaches in Melbourne and Sydney for three days of lectures, simulated writers rooms, panel discussions and a pitching competition on the art of television series creation and development.
Produced and presented by Epiphany International Artists and co-presented by AFTRS, this 3-day inaugural event promises to be the most comprehensive, challenging, fast paced and exciting three days ever to be presented in Australia on advancing our nation’s skills at creating world class television series.
Open to the general public, the TWS offers insider knowledge and experience of the US show runner model - the methodology that puts the writer at the helm of production and is behind their nation’s success creating the most original and brilliant series ever produced.
International speakers include Jen Grisanti, former VP of Current Programming at NBC, Ellen Sandler, EP of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, Carole Kirschner, Director of WGA Showrunner Training Program and former VP of Television at Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and Steve Kaplan, comedy consultant for writers at HBO, Disney, Screen Australia, NBC, Paramount and Dreamworks.
Australian guest speakers and judges are Tony Ayres (ABC “The Slap’), Adam Zwar (ABC Lowdown/Wilfred) and Claudia Karvan (writer/producer of Love My Way and Spirited).
Throughout the world, the most successful writers, directors and actors today work on television. You don’t have to be a professional writer or producer to attend. You do have to get in front of the people who matter, gain experience, advance your craft and launch your career.
