Kristen Bell in The Lifeguard.
AUSTRALIAN producer Estelle Buzzard will be walking the red carpet at Sundance Film Festival following the selection of The Lifeguard.
The film, written and directed by Liz W. Garcia, follows the story of a former valedictorian (Kristen Bell) who, after suffering a break-down, has to move back in with her parents in Connecticut. Here she takes a job as a community lifeguard and starts an illicit affair with a teenage boy.
Buzzard, of WA-based Buzz Productions, worked on the film as an Executive Producer.
She said though she had hoped the daring subject matter would assist the film in gaining admission to the festival, the announcement still came as a surprise.
“Sundance was always Plan A, but the announcement still comes as a shock, albeit a welcome one.”
“We expected a studio darling like Kristen Bell having an illicit affair with a teenage boy would peak media interest and we hoped the film would have its world premiere at a major festival…
“But this is quite literally a dream come true for the hundreds involved in making it.
“Now I just have to work out what to wear on a minus 20 degree red carpet,” she said.
The Sundance Festival will be held from January 17-27 in Park City, Utah.
