Iron Man 3 most popular movie trailer in 2012 on YouTube

Iron Man 3 was the most-viewed movie trailer in Australia on video site YouTube last year although a game led the charts.
Three of YouTube's top 10 most popular trailers were for games, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 taking the top spot in 2012. By January 7, 2013, it had accrued almost 30 million page views (which would also include global hits).
The list of most popular film trailers was dominated by Hollywood blockbusters, which went on to dominate the local box office. No Australian film trailers made the top 10 list although Australian companies worked on the VFX seen in Ted (Iloura) and Avengers/Iron Man 3 (Fuel VFX).
The most popular list of viral ads was led by Fitzy and Wippa's parody of PSY's Gangnam Style: titled Aussie Battler Style. The NovaFM radio personalities also scored the second and fifth place on the list.
Google Asia Pacific head of new products and solutions, Karen Stocks, said the definition of advertising is evolving, with third-place winner Gymkhana FIVE: Ultimate Urban Playground; San Francisco coming in at more than nine minutes.
“Advertisers may think that the formula to video success is an open secret, but ads don’t need to be slick 30-second TV spots to find an audience and succeed on YouTube. Online, marketers have the opportunity to reinvent their ads. They should challenge themselves to think popular, not premium, and focus on creating ads that people love to share.”
