Cameras Roll on "Super Awesome!"

[Fri 18/01/2013 09:35:35]

Press Release from Super Awesome

After a successful crowd funding campaign, principal photography for the independent Australian feature film, SUPER AWESOME! is set to start next week.

The film follows two buddies, Mark and Gary, who are given one last shot at achieving their dreams. Through circumstances out of their control, they find themselves at the helm of a big budget musical about marriage equality. They know very little about musicals and even less about marriage equality. It's ROCKY meets SUPERBAD set against the hilarious and touching backdrop of two guys just trying to do their best in extraordinary circumstances.

SUPER AWESOME! is written and directed by Guy Edmonds (his feature directing debut) and Matt Zeremes (Burke & Wills, Strangers Lovers Killers). Edmonds and Zeremes conceived the idea in LA last year and have been working solidly on the film since. Both Guy and Matt have had extensive careers as actors in Australia and overseas, having worked together in the worldwide theatrical sensation HOLDING THE MAN for over four years. As filmmakers their work has premiered at Robert DeNiro’s Tribeca Film Festival, Frameline in San Francisco and Palm Springs in LA to name a few.

The film has enormous scope and there is already significant interest on a global scale. It’s received international press coverage and through boundary-pushing comedy, is one of the first contemporary Aussie films to explore the anxiety and prejudice surrounding gay marriage in our modern world.
The film has an all star cast, in addition to the previously announced, there is Simon Burke (Pitch Black, Devil's Playground), Patrick Brammall (A Moody Christmas, Strange Calls), Brett Stiller (The Alice, Garage Days), Rob Carlton (Cleo, A Moody Christmas), Annie Maynard (Upper Middle Bogan, Cleo) Sandy Gore (Australia, Brides of Christ, Lorenzo's Oil) and many more.

Judd Overton (Nim’s Island II, Big Mammas Boy, Dr Plonk) will lend his formidable talent as Director of Photography.
