The most unique film festival to screen in Australia commences a limited season at Event Cinemas, George Street Sydney, from 27 February to 5 March 2013.
The Big Picture Film Festival will upend your expectations of a film festival. It is a unique collection of the most exciting new documentary films from around the world.
"The Big Picture Film Festival presents a carefully curated selection of exciting new documentary films. They are stimulating, provocative and persuasive in their examination of issues important to us all," says David Stratton.
The festival showcases those who have taken a stand against social inequality. It is about those who have, and are, making change in society. It’s about showing how involvement, passion and commitment can bring about positive change and it encourages you to get involved. See. Think. Change.
Highlights of the festival include the Academy© Award nominated Five Broken Cameras, Shadows of Liberty featuring Julian Assange and the controversial Silence in the House of God: Mea Maxima Culpa which will be screened on the eve of the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.
Almost every film screened at The Big Picture Film Festival is an Australian premiere and many will feature post-screening panel discussions with special guests including Tom Keneally, Eva Cox and Michael Kirby.

Uniquely, all proceeds raised from The Big Picture Film Festival go to supporting the work of The Bill Crews Charitable Trust. The Trust encourages, supports, finances and develops ways of tackling poverty across three continents. ‘Many people hear the cry of the oppressed and poverty-stricken yet they don’t know what to do about it.
