Hoyts rejigs programming team

Hoyts has promoted Michelle Gater to General Manager – Programming and Content as part of a restructure of the head office.

In effect Gater takes over from Frank Perikleous, who departed as Director of Programming last month after 24 years with the company.

Gater, who reports to Head of Operations Martin Bagley, was appointed National Film Programmer in July 2013. Her new position includes oversight of alternate content, an area formerly handled by General Manager – Digital Content Linda Hickey, who left earlier this year.

She began her career in 2002 with Val Morgan as a media co-ordinator, rising to Operations Manager and managing a team of media co-ordinators, and later an account manager.

She joined Hoyts in 2009 as Project Co-ordinator for the Hoyts Cinema Technology Group, assisting CTG in the deployment of digital cinema throughout the Hoyts circuit.

Pacific Equity Partners, which controls the funds that own Hoyts, is planning an IPO later this year, aiming to raise about $900 million.

An investor roadshow to Asia, Europe and North America is due to start in November with a view to listing the company in December, according to The Australian.
