John McAvoy, Cutting Edge launch joint venture

John McAvoy is forming McAvoy Media, a joint venture with post production house Cutting Edge.

Currently MD of Eyeworks Television Australia, McAvoy will depart next month to launch the production company.

Eyeworks was acquired in June by Warner Bros which is now responsible for the sales and licensing of all Eyeworks formats and TV programs.

"It has been a very exciting and busy few years at Eyeworks; it was the perfect opportunity for me after leaving Nine,” said McAvoy, who joined Eyeworks Australia in 2010 as head of international production and development..

“I am thrilled about my new partnership with Cutting Edge. I have an intimate knowledge of their people and business and am very enthusiastic about developing a future in television with them."

A former head of factual programming at Nine, McAvoy’s credits include What Really Happens in Bali, Gold Coast Cops, The Australian War Memorial, The Croc Catchers, Kalgoorlie Cops, Kings Cross ER, Celebrity Splash, Being Lara Bingle, DIY Rescue, You Saved My Life and Territory Cops.
