Parting of the ways on Hutchence movie

Producer Trevor Field and executive producer Robert Lewis Galinsky are continuing to develop the movie Two Worlds Colliding, the story of Michael Hutchence, despite parting ways with Hutchence’s sister Tina.

The Los Angeles –based Tina confirmed the split in an email to IF, stating, “We just did not have the same vision for the project.” Tina indicated she is working with a Sydney scriptwriter whom she declined to name, adding, “We have something to be proud of."

Field negotiated an option to the book Just a Man -The Real Michael Hutchence, by Tina Hutchence and her mother Patricia Glassop. Tina was offered the role of associate producer initially. Field and Galinsky wrote the treatment and Galinsky is the executive producer.

Field tells IF the screenplay is based partly on the book but also on his own research and observations on the circumstances of Hutchence’s death in a Sydney hotel in 1997, and the aftermath.

Field says two international actors are under consideration for playing Hutchence, contingent on the director, who has not been signed yet.

Neither Galinsky nor Field has seen Never Tear Us Apart: The INXS Story, the Shine Australia-produced miniseries which launches next Sunday night on the Seven Network.

“I hope it is fantastic as it will also be good for our project,” says Galinsky. “I sent [INXS manager] CM Murphy a congratulatory email last week for finishing the project and with best wishes.”

Field believes the mini-series could achieve record ratings, perhaps amongst the biggest for 2014.

Producer Sue Murray and writer-director Richard Lowenstein are developing a Hutchence biopic entitled Michael.
