A Cautionary Tail

The ABC Commercial title, A CAUTIONARY TAIL (1 x 14’ HD), has been chosen to screen in the official selection of the 67th Edinburgh International Film Festival, next month. The program will screen as part of ‘Shorts For the Family’, scheduled on the Closing Day of the festival, Sunday 30 June.

The unique children’s animation has also been chosen as one of the ten short film finalists for the 2013 Sydney International Film Festival (5 – 16 June) Dendy Awards, and will screen in the Palm Springs International ShortFest (18 – 24 June) and the St Kilda Film Festival (23 May – 1 June).

A CAUTIONARY TAIL is a magical story about a girl born with a tail that expresses her emotions. As a child, her parents celebrate their daughter's uniqueness and her tail inspires magical make-believe adventures with her friends. As she grows up, however, the young woman faces pressure to fit in, and must choose between conformity and self-expression.

A CAUTIONARY TAIL stars an acclaimed line-up of Australian actors – Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, David Wenham and Barry Otto – and uses a striking collage of 3D animated characters and exquisite hand-made miniature sets to tell the story.

A CAUTIONARY TAIL is produced by Pauline Piper of Rawr Media, directed by Simon Rippingale, written by Erica Harrison, and executive producers are Will Alexander and Renata Cooper. ABC Commercial holds worldwide distribution rights to the program.
