ABC1 comedy series At Home With Julia begins production

ABC1 comedy series At Home With Julia begins production in Sydney this week.

The 4 x 30 minute narrative comedy is based on the relationship between prime minister Julia Gillard and her partner Tim Mathieson. Amanda Bishop (STC Wharf Revue, Double Take) appears as Julia, while Phil Lloyd (ABC2’s Review with Myles Barlow) appears as Tim.

“They’re just like any other busy modern couple,” said executive producer/co-writer Rick Kalowski (Comedy Inc., The Late Shift). “Trying to balance their relationship with critical tasks like introducing taxes no-one voted for.”

At Home with Julia is directed by Erin White and the series is produced by Carol Hughes. The ABC's executive producer is Debbie Lee while production house Quail TV's executive producers are Rick Kalowski and Greg Quail. The series is written by Amanda Bishop, Rick Kalowski and Phil Lloyd.

ABC head of comedy Debbie Lee said: “We’ve long been concerned about generous Government funding for the ABC. Hopefully At Home With Julia will put a stop to that.”
