Media Release AFI

The last 50 tickets are on sale for the 2nd AACTA Awards Luncheon, presented by Deluxe, on Monday 28 January at The Star Event Centre in Sydney. Previously known as ‘The AFI Awards’ which were instituted in 1958, the event recognises the talent and innovation of artists and craftspeople working across the television, documentary, short fiction film, short animation and feature film categories.

This year’s host will be the irreverent Oscar® and AFI Awarded Adam Elliot who said:

"As an AACTA Honorary Councillor, an Academy Award Winner and a Gay Bald Animator, I am honoured to be dragged out of my little dark studio to host this year's AACTA Awards Luncheon, presented by Deluxe. Instead of receiving awards, it is such a pleasure to be on the other side of the fence helping to dish them out. And what gorgeous big lovely golden statuettes they are! I am thrilled, excited, and almost delirious with anticipation to see who will be showered in praise this year for their creative cleverness. So start polishing your tuxes and ironing your shoes, it's going to be another fabulous luncheon."

Joining Adam Elliot as presenters will be a host of popular television personalities.

A special highlight of the event will be the presentation of the prestigious AACTA Raymond Longford Award, the nation's highest screen accolade, to Al Clark. Al Clark’s career as a producer includes his involvement with two iconic Australian films The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Chopper.

Tickets are also open to the public and industry to attend the 2nd AACTA Awards Ceremony and Official After Party on 30 January.
