Press release from FirstCut Studio
In the short time since acclaimed composer Basil Hogios put the finishing touches on his music and sound post-production company FirstCut Studio, he has accrued some of the best facilities and finest talent this country has to offer. At its recent launch, FirstCut Studio unveiled a team of master composers and sound designers ready to take on any advertising, film, television, or artistic project.
The majority of the team met whilst studying at The Australian Film Television and Radio School, and their impressive body of work was on display at their Leichhardt warehouse that is also home to the famed Linear Recording.
Since graduating from film school in 2004, founder Basil Hogios has certainly kept busy. From an AFI nomination for his stunning score on the feature film ‘Romulus, My Father’, to the accolades he picked up for advertising work such as Vicks ‘Beatbox Choir’, and most recently his work on a large installation for the 2010 Sydney Biennale ‘Damned Souls and Turning Wheels’.
Basil is very excited to be launching at last: ‘Our creative clients have very ambitious visions which we thrive on helping become a reality. It’s exciting because I know FirstCut can offer the best music and sound services, with no compromise on artistic and sonic integrity, even on the tightest of budgets.’
‘We are the antithesis of some of the sausage factories out there. We are a community of creatives aiming to create a future of artistic and economic sustainability, hopefully that can benefit the entire Australian film industry.’
