AUSTAR has today announced the appointment to its Board of Mr Balan Nair, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Liberty Global Inc (Liberty Global).
Mr Nair replaces Mr Gene Schneider, who retired in October 2008 after serving on AUSTAR’s board for over nine years.
AUSTAR CEO Mr John Porter said, “We welcome Balan to the Board and look forward to him bringing his perspective on AUSTAR’s future direction. With his vast experience, Balan is ideally placed to assist our strategy with both our core business of subscription television and our developing business opportunities.”
In his current role, Mr Nair oversees Global Network and Technology operations in 30 million homes across four continents. Prior to joining Liberty Global Mr Nair was employed by AOL as Chief Technology Strategist. Mr Nair also spent 12 years at Qwest.
Mr Nair is an Executive Officer of Liberty Global, sitting on the company’s Executive Management Committee. He also sits on the board of Adtran Corporation, a NASDAQ 100 index stock. Mr Nair will begin his appointment immediately.
