Cutting Edge Steinlager Pure TVC named an AWARD finalist

Cutting Edge, a leading provider of creative, broadcast, visual effects, film and technical services to the media and entertainment industries, today announced their nomination for a AWARD Award for Best Digital Effects.

The third installment in the ‘Steinlager Pure’ campaign for brewer, Lion Nathan, features US actor Vincent Gallo, who follows his own footsteps into a mystical ‘darkness’ that represents the future. The commercial puts forth the notion that, ‘if we stay pure and uncompromising to the things that made us great in the past – then the future’s sure to be good’.

Director Christopher Riggert from Radical Media and Cutting Edge’s Lead Compositor/VFX Supervisor, Colin Renshaw turned this VFX intensive project around in just over a week for Publicis Mojo – Auckland.

“I am ecstatic that Colin and his amazing team of VFX artists are finalists for the AWARD Award,” said Sharon Pearson, Executive Producer Cutting Edge. “They have created the most beautiful and engaging TV spot, and you would never know how fast they were at getting it right! Colin had very little time for previz, and he and the VFX team really had to hit the ground running. This commercial is a real credit to their craft.”

“While the shots were still being camera tracked and the landscapes were being modeled, Dave Brown, our resident Houdini guru, was spitting out 10 iterations of ‘the darkness’ a day”, said Colin Renshaw, one of Australia and Asia’s leading Compositors and VFX artists. “It was incredible to see how focused everyone was on making this spot perfect.”
