Defrim Isai stepped down on Tuesday as Director of Production Investment at ScreenWest after leading the production investment team for two years.
ScreenWest Chief Executive Ian Booth said Isai helped Western Australia to reach its highest level of production on record, noting, “Defrim has been instrumental in creating opportunities for the local industry which has seen WA producers producing a record number of productions over a diverse slate.
“Significantly some of these outcomes will be felt over the next 12 months as many of the projects and business programs Defrim has overseen are beginning to kick in.”
At the agency he developed new programs including the SuperDoc Fund and Production Attraction Initiative, established its Location and Film Services activities and support and created new business opportunities with China.
Previously Isai spent six years as Director of Development and Production at the South Australian Film Corp.
He said he looks forward to returning to the independent sector either an individual producer or in partnership with other creative production companies.
