Essential dives into Bubble Bath Bay

Essential Media and Entertainment has lined up co-production partners in Malaysia and Ireland for a CGI animated pre-school series for ABC-TV.

Entitled Bubble Bath Bay, the show is based on an original concept by Sydney-based Gareth Eden Styche of Shambles Inc. The 52 x 11’ series is the biggest CGI pre-school commission by ABC Children’s Television in Australia.

The plot will follow the adventures of Sydney the Sailboat, Zip the Water Taxi and their nautical friends in magical waterways, islands and coves. Colin Friels is voicing the harbourmaster Terry the Tug.

The coproduction partners are Malaysia’s Ideate Media, Telegael Ireland and Lemon Sky Games and Animation of Malaysia.

The series director is former Disney Studios Animation director Steve Trenbirth.  “We’ve got a terrific creative and technical team to produce this beautiful series,” says Carmel Travers, Essential Director and Head of Children’s Entertainment.

The project is in the design phase and production will start in February. International sales agent Bejuba! Entertainment will launch the show at the Mipcom market in Cannes which runs October 7-10.
