Foxtel inks deal to screen Disney and MGM content

Movies released by The Walt Disney Company, including Disney-Pixar and Marvel, and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), will now be shown on Foxtel Movies and Premium Drama service under the terms of a new deal.

The Foxtel Movies channels will now carry content from all of the major Hollywood studios and distributors, including NBC Universal; Paramount Pictures; Sony Pictures; Twentieth Century Fox; Warner Brothers Pictures; Village Roadshow.

Foxtel chief executive Richard Freudenstein said: “The inclusion of films from Disney and MGM, joining our other studio partners, ensures that Foxtel Movies and Premium Drama customers will have access to all of the best content Hollywood produces. Huge box office successes such as Marvel’s The Avengers, Brave, Skyfall and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be seen on the Foxtel platform over coming months, with many more great films to follow."

Foxtel has also secured the rights to Mad Men, which it will show within hours of its US broadcast on April 8.
