Hoyts to show live 3D World Cup matches

Australia’s leading cinema operator, today announced that it has formed a partnership with SBS, the exclusive and official broadcaster of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, to show selected matches live in Hoyts cinemas in Australia and New Zealand in vibrant 3D.

In a first for Australia and New Zealand, Hoyts will deliver an exciting 3D experience for football fans on Christie digital 2k projectors, using RealD 3D technology. The matches will be shown on the big screen across the 3D satellite-enabled Hoyts cinemas around the country.

Building upon consumers’ rapidly-growing interest in 3D, the first ever FIFA World Cup™ in 3D will immerse Australian football fans in the matches, making them feel part of the action taking place half a world away.
