Melbourne WebFest receives triennial funding

Melbourne WebFest is delighted to announce that the festival has been successful in its application for triennial funding through the City of Melbourne.

This funding will provide a much-needed boost to the festival’s budget and ensure the financial viability of the festival for the next three years.

Following on from the success of the 2014 festival, this funding will allow Melbourne WebFest to continue to provide a platform for showcasing the emerging industry of web series and providing industry development for content creators.

“This funding will accelerate the development of our festival to create better opportunities for our future selections to have their work seen and acknowledged; emerging digital content creators to have opportunities for professional development and to create industry connections and career pathways; as well as for the Melbourne community to experience and engage with innovative digital storytelling,” says Festival Director Steinar Ellingsen.

City of Melbourne’s Chair of Arts and Culture, Councillor Rohan Leppert says The City of Melbourne is “thrilled to be supporting Melbourne Web Fest; an innovative organisation working in a medium becoming more popular than ever before”.

“It is organisations such as Melbourne Web Fest that make Melbourne such an inspiring and creative city,’ he adds.

“In June this year, the City of Melbourne released the Arts Strategy 2014-17, a blueprint to ensure Melbourne’s arts scene continues to grow with the city. Supporting the artists and arts organisations who are producing projects in the city is a key part of this strategy.”

Melbourne WebFest is the hub for web-based content creators to come together to experience and learn about the developing trends in digital entertainment and the emerging web series industry.

The 2015 festival will include screenings, conference panels, professional workshops and an awards ceremony.

Early bird submissions Melbourne WebFest 2015 will open on Monday October 13th. Full details and guidelines will available at www.melbournewebfest.com on this date.
