FremantleMedia appoints new CEO for Australia

[Thu 03/09/2009 11:02:03]

Press release from FreemantleMedia

FremantleMedia, one of the largest creators and producers of entertainment brands in the world, today announces the appointment of Ian Hogg as Chief Executive Officer for FremantleMedia Australia (FMA).

In his new Sydney-based role, Ian will be responsible for the overall management and business performance of all of FremantleMedia’s production operations in Australia.

Reporting directly to Simon Spalding, Regional CEO of Europe and Asia Pacific for FremantleMedia, Ian will set and implement strategies for the continued success and growth of the FMA business, as well as actively lead its creative development.

Ian will also be responsible for the development of unique TV programming for the Australian and international markets, and for representing FremantleMedia formats in Australia. He will work closely with FremantleMedia’s international production, licensing and sales operations

Simon Spalding, Regional CEO of Europe and Asia Pacific, FremantleMedia, said: “We’re very pleased that Ian will be leading FremantleMedia Australia's hugely talented team in the next phase of the business's development.

He has extensive experience in the television and production industry, working in both networks and independent production companies in Australia and around the world.

Australia is a key production and development territory for FremantleMedia, and we are confident that Ian will be able to work with our local partners and our wider international network, building on our formidable creative and commercial strengths.”

Ian began his career in production and programming at Channel Ten in Australia and at New Zealand’s NZTV3, before being Group General Manager at Becker Group Limited in Sydney.

He then moved to Singapore and founded Theatre Red Pte, which went on to become one of the top television, production, distribution and internet companies in the Asian region. Most recently, Ian has been working on behalf of MGM Worldwide as their Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Asia Pacific.

Ian Hogg, CEO, FMA, said: “It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to lead such a respected and creative company. With the television industry going through a period of structural change, there is no better time to be producing great content."

Ian’s appointment to CEO, FMA comes as FremantleMedia continues its overall investment into the future of its business and talent through various appointments which have recently included: Saurindra Kumar Barua (Raj) as Managing Director, FremantleMedia India;  Keith Hindle as the CEO, Americas, FremantleMedia Enterprises, and Jon Penn as the CEO Asia Pacific, FremantleMedia Enterprises.
