Qantas acquires Going Vertical

By Brendan Swift

Airline Qantas has recently acquired upcoming surf movie Going Vertical and indigenous musical Bran Nue Dae.

Going Vertical is being distributed by The Pack and is slated for release on March 25 on up to 30 screens including city and coastal areas.

“We’ve booked a whole run of coastal screens from Noosa Heads down to Merimbula,” The Pack founder Peter Castaldi said.

The film, narrated by actor Simon Baker, reveals which country is responsible for the introduction of the shortboard and features some of the biggest names in surfing such as Kelly Slater.

Meanwhile, Qantas has also acquired Jane Campion's Bright Star and the IF Award-winning My Tehran For Sale.

Local films are often sold to airlines for between $15,000 and $40,000 although major blockbusters can sell for six-figure sums.
