Screen Australia games programs discontinued

PRESS RELEASE

Further to yesterday’s Federal Budget announcement, which discontinued the Australian Interactive Games Fund, Screen Australia has announced that, effective immediately, it will not accept any further applications for games funding.

Applications for the Games Production program received or postmarked on or before close of business Tuesday 13 May 2014 will be assessed against the published criteria and successful applicants will be advised accordingly. There will be no second funding round held for the Games Enterprise program.

Game projects and developer studios that have already been approved for funding will continue to receive pre-allocated funding and administrative support from Screen Australia as normal.

In its capacity as the Federal Government’s key agency for providing support to the screen production sector, Screen Australia was charged with administering the new Australian Interactive Games Fund in November 2012, with a suite of programs introduced in March 2013 after a period of industry consultation. 10 companies were supported through Games Enterprise and 29 projects to date through Games Production.
