Stan and CBS join forces

Subscription streaming service Stan has announced a content licensing agreement with CBS Studios International.

The non-exclusive agreement will see more than 1,200 hours of SHOWTIME and CBS programming available on Stan’s new SVOD service; including early seasons of popular US shows ray Donovan, Dexter, Californication, The Good Wife and Blue Bloods, as well as the complete collection of the digitally remastered Star Trek: The Original Series along with all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

This comes after Stan unveiled a wide-ranging content deal with SBS last month.

“With Stan, Australians will have a value-for-money entertainment service that makes premium content accessible to everyone. CBS have a proven track record of creating the most watched TV shows, loved by audiences around the world. This is why we’ve committed to bringing their flagship dramas and the best of their catalogue to Stan,” Mike Sneesby, CEO of Stan, said in a statement released to the media.

Armando Nuñez, President and CEO, CBS Global Distribution Group, said, “We’re pleased to be a part of the new Stan service which will further showcase CBS programming in this important region. This agreement creates a new revenue stream for us in the market while expanding the fan base for our popular current and classic series.”

Nick Forward, Stan’s Director of Content and Product, said, “From launch, our members will be able to binge on the complete series of some of TV’s greatest ever shows, including the original Twin Peaks, Oz, The Borgias and Deadwood, and they’ll be able to enjoy watching them wherever and whenever they want.”

Adding to the mix is popular US crime shows CSI and spin off series CSI: NY and CSI: Miami.
